WooCommerce Integration
The PostBeagle for WooCommerce plugin connects your WooCommerce store to PostBeagle so that customers are captured, tagged, and synced automatically — without ever disrupting checkout. Customer data syncs in the background after checkout, so the shopper never waits on PostBeagle.
Requirements
- WordPress 5.8 or higher
- WooCommerce 8.9 or higher
- PHP 7.4 or higher
- A PostBeagle account with API access (see Authentication)
Installation
- Upload the plugin to
/wp-content/plugins/postbeagle-woocommerce/(or install the ZIP from the Plugins screen). - Activate PostBeagle for WooCommerce through the Plugins menu.
- Go to WooCommerce → PostBeagle Settings.
- Enter your PostBeagle API credentials.
- Select the target email list new contacts should be added to.
- (Optional) Customize the opt-in checkbox text.
- (Optional) Configure field mappings.
Features
Checkout opt-in capture
- Adds an opt-in checkbox to the WooCommerce checkout with customizable text.
- Opted-in customers are synced to your selected PostBeagle list.
- Customers are tagged first-time vs. repeat automatically at checkout.
- Respects double opt-in when it is enabled on your PostBeagle account.
- If an API call fails, checkout still completes normally and the failure is logged to the WordPress debug log for review.
Order & customer data sync
WooCommerce order data is mapped to PostBeagle custom fields, including:
- Products, categories, and SKUs purchased
- Order value
- Customer lifetime value and order count
You can map additional WooCommerce order fields to PostBeagle custom fields from the field mapping interface.
One-time bulk import
Import past customers who ticked the newsletter box at checkout in a single batched pass, carrying over lifetime value so they land with the same custom fields as new opt-ins.
Customers who never ticked the box are skipped, because they haven't agreed to marketing email. The plugin only records the checkbox on orders placed after it was installed. To move a mailing list from another email tool, export it there and import the file in PostBeagle.
WooCommerce automations
Each store event can apply tags and trigger a PostBeagle automation:
| Trigger | Fires when |
|---|---|
| Welcome | A customer first opts in |
| First purchase | A customer places their first order |
| Repeat purchase | A returning customer places an order |
| Product purchased | A specific product is bought |
| Abandoned cart | A cart is left without checkout |
| Win-back | A lapsed customer is re-targeted |
Purchase and win-back automations only reach customers who are PostBeagle contacts: ones who ticked the newsletter box at checkout or subscribed another way. A buyer who didn't opt in isn't added as a contact. Their order still counts toward your store's revenue, and it moves to their contact if they subscribe later.
Email capture anywhere
Capture signups outside of checkout with:
- The
[postbeagle_signup]shortcode - A Gutenberg block
- An Elementor widget
Form integrations
The plugin can add a contact, apply tags, and trigger an automation from submissions to:
- Contact Form 7
- WPForms
- Fluent Forms
- Gravity Forms
Security
- API keys are stored securely and never exposed to the storefront.
- The plugin never blocks checkout. The contact sync runs in the background, and any request made while the shopper is checking out gives up after two seconds and is retried later.
- See the plugin's
SECURITY.mdfor the full security model.
Troubleshooting
- Customers aren't syncing — confirm the API key is valid and a target list is selected under WooCommerce → PostBeagle Settings, then check the WordPress debug log for logged failures.
- Custom fields are empty — verify the field mappings; lifetime value and order count require the order to be completed before the sync runs.
- Double opt-in not firing — double opt-in is controlled by your PostBeagle account settings, not the plugin.
