There is no bounce, no error and no warning when your SPF record exceeds its DNS lookup limit or your DMARC policy sits in monitoring mode doing nothing. Your campaigns keep reporting as “sent”. They just quietly stop landing.
Every new sending service — your store platform, your helpdesk, your invoicing tool, your newsletter — wants another include: in your SPF record. Each one costs lookups, and the eleventh one takes down authentication for all of them at once.
Gmail and Yahoo now require SPF, DKIM and DMARC together from anyone sending in volume. Plenty of domains that were fine for years are not fine any more, and the only symptom is a slow decline in results.
How it works, what it can and can't see, and what happens to your data.
It reads your domain’s public DNS and checks four things: your SPF record (including the recursive DNS lookup count, which is capped at 10 and fails silently past that), your DMARC record and whether its policy is actually enforcing, whether a DKIM key is published at any common selector, and whether your domain can receive mail at all.
No. There is no signup and no blurred-out section. After the check we offer to send you occasional deliverability tips, which you can skip in one click. You get the complete report and every fix either way, whether or not you ever become a customer.
DKIM selectors cannot be listed from DNS — they can only be guessed. We probe the selectors the major email providers use, so if yours is custom we will not see it. A miss means “unconfirmed”, never “missing”.
SPF permits a maximum of 10 DNS lookups while it is being evaluated. Every include:, a, mx and redirect counts, including the ones nested inside your providers’ records. Go over and receivers stop evaluating and return a permanent error, so SPF fails for all of your mail — even though the record looks perfectly fine. This is the single most common invisible deliverability bug, and adding one more sending tool is usually what triggers it.
The check itself reads public DNS, returns the result, and keeps nothing. If you choose to leave your email for tips, we save the domain you checked alongside it. We never send mail to your domain or contact anyone at it.
